What are Chevening Scholarships?
Chevening Scholarships are given to people who show leadership potential and have good academic backgrounds. They are paid for by the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office and partner organisations. The scholarship covers all of the costs of getting a master’s degree at any university in the UK. It also gives students access to a wide range of unique academic, career, and cultural opportunities.
Since the scheme started in 1983, Chevening has given over 50,000 highly skilled professionals the chance to grow in the UK. More than 1,500 scholarships are available around the world for the school year 2023-2024. This shows that the UK is still committed to training the leaders of tomorrow.
How does it work?
All applicants go through a tough process to be chosen. Then, British offices and high commissions around the world choose the most qualified applicants by hand.

How to apply
You can apply for a Chevening Scholarship by going to website apply and choosing your country from the list. After you send in your application, it will be checked to see if you meet Chevening’s requirements. Then, independent reading committees will look at the applications that were found to be qualified and make a long list of applicants.
If you make the long list, the British embassy or high commission in the country where you applied will ask for references and ask you to come in for an interview. A panel will talk to you in English during these face-to-face interviews. They will ask you about your personal and professional goals and how a Chevening Scholarship would help you reach them. The classes you choose will also be taken into account. After that, the panel will compare your interview to global Chevening standards and give you a score.
What is the deadline for applications?
Requests for 2023–2024 There are no more Chevening scholarships.
In June 2023, the list of successful applications will be made public. If you’re one of them, you’ll start school in the UK in September or October 2023.
