With a rich heritage stretching back to 1881, the University of Liverpool is the original ‘redbrick’ university. The prestigious Russell Group, one of the research-led institutions in the UK within 24 was founded by University of Liverpool with nine Nobel Laureates associated with them. We are a global university, with pioneering partnerships all over the world. UK’s most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF) has ranked our research power in 20th position. More than 8,000 are international and EU students from over 130 countries of our 27,000 students on campus. Across our three faculties, we offer a huge range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. A year in industry is included in many of our undergraduate programmes. A number of two-year master’s programmes are offered by the School of Electrical Engineering and Electronics and Computer Science which include an invaluable year-long industrial placement.
Self-financing international students are offered a range of scholarships by the University of Liverpool.
An international fee is paid by students from outside of the UK. Price of many programmes is competitive and includes a year in industry. Fees range from £18,000 to £23,75 for Undergraduate (excluding clinical degrees in Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science), whilst fees range from £18,950-£28,000 for postgraduate.
Services for International Students
International students are offered with a comprehensive range of support services starting with a friendly welcome when you arrive in the UK by our Meet and Greet airport transport service at Manchester airport. An exciting programme of orientation and welcome events are presented to all new international students to help you adjust to life in Liverpool as effortlessly.
Throughout your time in Liverpool, a central point of contact for international students is offered by the University’s International Advice and Guidance team providing advice on issues such as immigration, visas, finance, accommodation and any personal issues you might have. Free In-sessional English language support can be availed throughout your studies provided by the campus based English Language Centre.

A First or 2:1 is received by more than 75% of students at the University.
Accommodation
A diverse range of exceptional student residences are provided by the University. The students have a choice of catered or self-catered in city campus residences as well as off campus where libraries, the sports centre and Guild of Students are located along with over 4,500 single occupancy rooms. A 10 minute walk will connect to the heart of the city and about 3 miles away from the University campus is the Greenbank student village, which is set within beautiful parkland.
A ready-made community is provided by the University’s accommodation where you will make friends in a supported, safe, welcoming environment.
Living Costs
Liverpool is one of the most cost-effective student cities in the UK being a home to over 60,000 students. However, depending on lifestyle and choice of accommodation living costs can vary considerably ranging from £850-£1,300 for a month, which covers accommodation, food, study costs, phone, travel, social activities.
Location
Liverpool is globally reputed for sport, music, architecture and culture. Liverpool has Home of The Beatles and Liverpool and Everton Football clubs, with more museums, theatres and galleries than any other city in the UK outside of London. An incredible range of shops and restaurants suiting all tastes and budgets with over 250 bars and clubs are located here.
North of England has Liverpool with excellent transport links to the rest of the UK taking two hours by train to get to London. Liverpool has two international airports so close to the University namely Liverpool John Lennon Airport which is 20 mins from campus and Manchester Airport which is approximately one hour from campus providing great access and daily flights to many European countries, key international hubs and worldwide destinations.
